This is a poem that my 14 year old son wrote for his dad while
he was in training before being deployed to Iraq.  His dad left
home on Feb. 1, 2005, and returned safely to us on Oct. 13,
2005.  We are going to copyright this poem, but have not
completed the process as of yet.

SEABEE

You're a Seabee
And we're all scared,
Because we know
Of lives not spared.
You're going away,
But you'll be back,
'Cause God will be with you
In Iraq.
I'll be praying,
And others will too,
We're your biggest fans,
And we love you.
You must be safe
And soon return.
And you can teach me
All you've learned.
Please remember us
While you're gone,
When you're not sleeping
Until dawn.
It is hard for us
To say "Goodbye"
But we stare into
The same big sky.
You're doing your job
And protecting us,
And doing all sorts
Of other stuff.
So fight the fight
And live strong,
And remember we'll miss you
While you're gone.
You will come back
And we'll catch up,
And so I wish you
The best of luck.
'Cause you're a Seabee,
And you can fight,
And I know soon,
We'll reunite.
But until then,
I hope to talk soon,
Goodbye Seabee,
I LOVE YOU!

Love, Stephen

God Bless America

God, bless America
and the families of those we miss.
Avenge the lives of those we've lost
to the hands of terrorists.
Though our hearts are breaking,
give us strength,
help us stand
united as a nation
and protect this blessed land.
Guide us as we carry on
by faith with liberty.
God, bless America
for all the world to see.

SOLDIER

As I sit here, waiting in this tent,
I see soldiers of all branches:
Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines.
Soldiers going on R & R.
Soldiers going to fight.
Soldiers carrying bags-getting on a plane,
heading to Kuwait.
Soldiers checking combat load, heading to fight.
I believe it's safe to say
No matter where we're stationed,
No matter what we did in this country,
We've all seen some combat, some blood spilled.
Combat MOS's and Non combat,
We've all seen our share of lives lost.
Friendly, enemy and innocents,
we've seen loose their lives over a winning
cause-FREEDOM.
Though some people will not come back,
their cause is known and their battle over.
We must not ever forget the people we lost in this war.
Our friend, our buddies.
This is what we call them, BUT
to everyone else, they call them SOLDIER.

waiting to come home from Iraq."

A Message in the *Twinkle*

Child of mine
Out of the reach of this mama's hugs.
Look up to the stars at night.
I've beamed a message of
love there.

On the nights when the stars
are hidden behind clouds
I'm still reminded of you.
You are hidden from my view,
yet I trust in the beating of your heart.
We shared heartbeats for nine months
and became forever bonded.

The twinkle of the stars
are a comfort to me from
God above.
Child, see the stars and feel my hugs.

Love Always,
Mama

UNITED STATES MARINE

His camouflage uniform brings out
the green color of his eyes.
I sit and watch as he packs his bags
Getting ready to deploy to Iraq.

As tears run down my eyes
I pray to God that he doesn't die.
He turns to me and hugs me,
And tells me not to cry
everything will be all right.

I love this guy with all my heart.
And now he's off to fight,
To fight for this country and
for thousands of people
To be free.

But he's just a baby.
He's only eighteen, and
Still has a life ahead of him.
He tells me not to worry, just
To think that he's one of the few
And the proud
UNITES STATES MARINES.
